Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

ScreenGenius is a macOS application developed by alex zhong ("we", "us", or "our"). Questions about this policy can be sent to support@iamdev.me.

2. Information we do not collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store:

• Screenshots or images you capture
• The text content of AI responses
• Your API keys or credentials
• Your name, email address, or any account information
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind
• Device identifiers or IP addresses

3. How your screenshots are used

When you capture a screenshot and send it for analysis, the image is transmitted directly from your Mac to the AI API endpoint you have configured in the app's Settings (e.g., OpenAI, OpenRouter, or a local Ollama instance). This transmission is made over HTTPS using your Mac's built-in networking stack.

We have no visibility into this transmission and do not receive copies of your screenshots. The privacy practices of the AI provider you choose are governed by that provider's own privacy policy.

If you use a local Ollama instance, your screenshots never leave your Mac.

4. API keys and credentials

Your API key is stored locally on your Mac using UserDefaults within the app's sandboxed container. It is never transmitted to us or any party other than the AI endpoint you configure.

5. App Sandbox

ScreenGenius runs in Apple's App Sandbox. It has access only to:

• Screen Recording — to capture screenshots (requires your explicit permission via System Settings)
• Outbound network connections — to communicate with your chosen AI API endpoint

The app cannot access your Documents, Downloads, or any other files outside its own sandboxed container without your explicit interaction.

6. Third-party AI providers

ScreenGenius is a client application. When you send a screenshot to an AI provider, that provider's terms and privacy policy apply to the data they receive. We encourage you to review:

• OpenAI Privacy Policy
• OpenRouter Privacy Policy
• Ollama: runs locally — no data leaves your machine

7. Children's privacy

ScreenGenius is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
